ODESZA wanted to create a unique experiential launch for their third studio album A Moment Apart.

We kicked off the experience with map coordinates posted across the bands social channels that led to a mysterious door in Seattle.

Once at the door, fans and passersby found a video installation with footage of the band at work in their studio, cut to a custom soundscape made by Odesza.

Glitches in the door directed fans to a mobile 360° VR experience showcasing moments from the band's lives as well as glimpses of the upcoming album. To create the 360° video, we brought their Icosahedron logo to life and used a 360° camera to provide the foundation of the video. Hidden within was as a secret message in morse code leading to unreleased tracks from their new album.

With multiple touchpoints for fans to engage with the band, both in the physical and the digital worlds, buzz surrounding the launch of their new album skyrocketed and when their album was finally released, they were sitting at number three on the billboard top 200, and their upcoming tour was sold out.

In addition to creating all of the video content for the launch, including the 360° video, I was also integral in the concepting and prototyping of the experience, making prototype icosahedrons and proof-of-concept VR videos.

The Virginia Mason Medical Center has an incredible Cancer Institute, but not a lot of people knew it. So to raise awareness, we invited people to see what was happening to cancer, literally.

The end result was water-soluble billboards—the culmination of several months of testing a myriad of inks, paints, and substrates. I consulted with chemists, artists, and sign painters, and conducted rounds upon rounds of tests to come up with the ideal environmentally friendly formula and process for applying it. I created step-by-step application instructions for the sign painters at Clear Channel Outdoor, and supervised the entire process.  After a few days, the Seattle weather did as it does, and the rains came —washing away CANCER.

Microsoft Lync connects people everywhere as a one-stop shop for secure communication with video, conferencing, chat and phone capabilities that work across devices, geographies, and platforms. 

At the LYNC 2014 Conference, attendees celebrated the modern convenience of communication & collaboration that is LYNC by smashing all the old business "tools" they no longer needed. I captured the experience via three video cameras, whose footage we processed same-day to send recap videos out to each attendee through the booth. We also set up an interview couch to chat one-on-one with Lync users, and collect both unique insights and valuable video content. 

While generating a ton buzz and excitement within the conference – partly due to the giant gong hung at the center of the bullseye – it also became an online phenomenon, with social activity for the conference up 291% from the previous year. The experience was also awarded Microsoft's top internal and worldwide award for the best social program of 2014, and a National Silver Addy.

Since 2013, I have been projecting on walls across Seattle for SoundersFC to generate buzz, create hype, and boost ticket sales. From the season opener to the MLS Championship game, I've scouted the city for the best walls and projected photos, videos, and live-updated social content. Using a purpose-built Sprinter Van, equipped with a generator, hydraulic lift, and a 20,000 lumen projector, we're literally mobile. And I'm pretty sure we were integral to the Sounders winning the Championship. 

People knew Seattle's EMP Museum for Jimi Hendrix guitars and Death Stars and Nirvana handwritten lyrics, but they didn't know the mission had evolved to focus on all pop culture offers from gaming, fashion, and film, to music and science fiction. It was time for the name to catch up with who they had become. And it needed to be newsworthy, even though it would be the 5th name in only 10 years.

We set out to boldly name and claim the museum's pop culture identity, and tell their broader story to increase awareness. We needed to get pop culture fanatics and the local community excited to celebrate the official transformation of EMP into the Museum of Pop Culture, or MoPOP.

Our teaser campaign showcased rebus-like pop culture puzzles, with a simple question: Do you speak pop culture? If you can solve it, come celebrate with a free day at EMP Museum. No one knew what would happen once they got there.

Our puzzles showed up in wild postings, traditional print, massive video projections, and guerilla tactics to drive foot traffic to the free day at the museum. Once they got to the Pop Culture Party, the new name was revealed. The celebration was the biggest attendance day in the 20-year history of the museum, with more than 10,000 people streaming through the doors. The announcement secured 1.3 million impressions with a Seattle Times exclusive, and 400k+ viewership impressions through broadcast coverage on KOMO, KIRO, and KING.

Oh! And we made pop culture geeks everywhere happy.

I developed the process to produce several thousand pieces of "chewed" gum (microwaves and a cooler full of hot water on-site were involved). I worked with designers to lay out the rebus in Post-It note form, and lead its installation. I supervised (and ate) the pepperoni-based rebus. And I projected the pop-culture puzzles across the city with a mobile projection van.

Spring is a key time of year for lacrosse athletes as they prepare for the upcoming season. It's where the sacrifice, dedication, and hard work all come together. Nike came to Wexley to create an anthem campaign that would foster brand love among lacrosse-addicted teens and get them ready to win the season by gearing up with all the latest.

The lacrosse category is extremely crowded, with sea-of-sameness marketing promoting lots of comparable gear, and highlighting marquee players all battling for the hearts & wallets of the same core group of athletes. Nike gets credit for making great quality gear, but that alone does not guarantee duffle bag domination.

We took the existing 'Attack Mode' campaign and built on the equity by expanding the platform to 'Attack Everything'. It's about taking it to the next level. Not just attacking the goal. You have to attack your mindset, your fears, your doubts, your defender, ground balls, the crease, your training, your weaknesses, mediocrity, whatever is in your way. The creative focused on attacking every second, every minute, every waking or sleeping hour into lacrosse. Because if you want to be better than that other player that's better than you, you better attack everything. Now.

I produced the two-day photoshoot with some of the world's top professional lacrosse athletes. I was also the photographer and videographer. We captured additional interview content with the athletes. And we had a great time, despite a rare Portland snowstorm cutting our shoot short. 

The work showed up nationwide across print, retail, social and in-market events. Teens were tearing the ads out and hanging them in their rooms for inspiration. And the disruptive, differentiated color palette helped the brand breakthrough at retail.

For the opening of the new Brooks Running HQ in Seattle, we wanted to celebrate the runners that inspire everything the company does each and every day. 

We asked runners to send us their race medals and the stories behind them to build a commemorative statue of a runner, nearly 10' tall and captured in the final strides of a race. Over 1,000 medals were forged in bronze to create the work, sent in from nearly every continent, 12 countries, every US state, and every major US marathon. The Medalist embodies the power of the run, and the promise of the Brooks run happy spirit.

I spearheaded the effort to source and collect the medals, sending custom-built branded collection bins to Brooks' retail partners across the country along with prepaid shippers to get the medals back to us. I then meticulously photographed and cataloged all 1,073 medals we received. I worked with the sculptor to document the entire process, knowing that this would be a memorable sculpture, living on in permanence.  

To help recognize each and every runner who helped this statue come to life, we took their remarkable stories and compiled them in a custom, leather-bound book that lives inside the new Brooks HQ store, looking out onto the sculpture and the famous Burke Gilman Trail beyond.

Now, when the Duck Tours stop at the corner of 35th and Stone Way, the guide makes sure to point out the sculpture and explain its commemorative origin and the impact that Brooks has on Seattle and the running community as a whole. I'd call that the best success metric around.

Darigold had tasked us with capturing an aerial shot of their Wexley-designed corn maze. In prior years they had a connection with a plane, but when that was no longer an available option, we had to look elsewhere. 

Commercially available drones capable of camera payload had just come out on the market, and I thought this would be the perfect opportunity to test it out. A drone was more cost-effective than a helicopter charter, and we have been able to use the drone for several years of corn mazes!

To help Nordstrom Rack launch new stores across the country, Wexley developed a series of experiential activations across the country, one of which was Operation: Fashion Drop.

In Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina, street teams, paid social posts, and drive-time radio helped spread the word that Nordstrom Rack was celebrating the occasion by delivering designer handbags to four lucky winners in town. The contest received hundreds of text message entries, and in the end, the grand prize winners had their new handbag delivered right to their doorstep by a glittering gold Nordstrom Rack drone.

I provided production support to the activation team, lead content capture, edited and output teaser videos and same-day recap videos from Charleston (while working through the largest flash flood of the season). And I also got a chance to pilot the largest, goldest drone I've flown yet.

Wexley wanted a memorable leave-behind that embodied the ethos and character of Wexley to accompany a special proposal.

Regular run-of-the-mill usb thumb drives wouldn't do.

So I sourced gold bar thumb drives and then custom crafted a presentation box from the finest gold, the best red velvet, and Tibetan yak leather.

Memorable? definitely.

The Sounders wanted a mid-season campaign for 2014 to boost awareness, peaking interest with the casual soccer fan, and leverage excitement around the upcoming World Cup. Thus, "Hyper Rave" was born.

Due to training, scheduling, and a multi-match week, we only had ten minutes with each athlete, so we set up three stations to maximize the capture time with each player, shooting medium-format stills for large format OOH at one, rolling video and shooting high fps stills at the second, and interviewing the players at the third to get fun and interesting facts for the TV spots and radio. We then took all of that content and produced a series of TV, OOH, and Radio that was well-received by fans as well as award show juries.

The Sounders weren't off to the best start in 2016, and we were looking to speak directly to the fans and boost support for the club. We developed the "C'mon Seattle" campaign to rouse fan support, and a key portion of the campaign was comprised of neighborhood-specific wildpostings.

Rather than just posting in neighborhoods, we took it further and created a series of neighborhood-specific posters. I started by location scouting potential neighborhoods and looking for recognizable and iconic neighborhood locations. I then used a drone to capture each neighborhood from the right perspective.

Wildpostings of the Ballard Bridge ON the Ballard Bridge? Awesome. Social buzz around the posters, and fan moral and support up? Even more awesome. And winning the Championship later that year? I'll take just a little bit of credit for making that happen.

Wexley School for Girls was sponsoring a car in the annual (and nationally revered) Stanwood Soap Box Derby. How does Wexley sponsor a derby car? Not with just a Wexley logo, but with one of the most sacred creatures of Wexley lore – the Pandolphlion. And sure, we could have just put "Wexley School for Girls" over the top, but to be honest, derbys should be more about the driver than the sponsor. So we adorned the car with the driver's name, typeset in the Wexley typeface.

Two days of painting, and a successful day of racing, and we came home with a Best of Show trophy. Smells like victory.
